As many of you know, I haven’t shopped for food very often since the holidays began. Ocassionally I’d head to the store but not do the complete shopping I’d done prior to the holiday season. Sooooo… this morning I woke up early and thought…mmm… what should I do with my day today? Well, I decided to plan a shopping trip to Weis! After a couple hours of clipping, researching and planning my trip I went prepared to save some money.
While there I decided to take my time walking through the store- I usually do not do this. I stumbled upon deals that I would have missed had I not decided to wander the isles. My cart became fuller and fuller as I found savings in almost every isle! Check this out to see what I purchased there…and then after the pictures you will see the numbers:
All these items have a total value of $254.06. Weis savings from their sales is $86.02. Total coupon savings is $77.18. What did I spend out of my own pocket? Just $90.86! That means I only paid for 36% of the groceries I brought home!!! Considering the paper towels and toilet paper almost equal that amount…I’d say Extreme Couponing in Excellence works well!! The beauty is in the sales with the coupons and having a healthy stockpile so you only purchase what’s on sale that you have coupons for.
I also made another stop to see how Dutchway’s prices compare to Weis. There is one BIG difference… Dutchway does NOT accept internet printed coupons!! This is important to remember. They do double coupons. On this shopping trip I found Weis had most of the better deals however, I did find a few good deals at Dutchway. Check out this picture to see what I bought:
Notice the two pounds of smoked ham lunchmeat, 1/2 pound of Swiss cheese and 1 pound of american cheese? I only paid a total of $12.78 total for all of them! Just the ham would have been more than the total purchase price if I purchased it elsewhere. The rest of the items? Well they only cost me an additional $12.67. The grapes were a great sale price of just .99 per pound.
